Brazil Diversifies Its Energy Mix
Second edition of the International Meeting on Brazil’s Energy Market to be held in March 2026 will discuss diversification and integration of energy sources with a focus on energy security
Brazil is a global reference in energy diversity, integration, and efficiency, and the Northeast region stands out as one of the country’s main hubs for energy investment. In September, Brazil expanded its national power grid by 1.4 GW from renewable sources driven by solar, wind, and small hydropower plants, according to the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL). The federal agency also reported that by the end of September 2025, the country had already added 5,921.34 MW in new generation units — from both clean and thermal sources — maintaining its rapid growth trajectory.
In this context of expansion and foreign investment, the second edition of iBEM – The International Meeting on Brazil’s Energy Market will take place at the Salvador Convention Center, from March 24th to 26th, 2026. The event is both a trade fair and a conference that brings together all energy sectors, connecting renewable, transitional, and conventional sources. It serves as a key platform to foster new policies, systems, and partnerships, drive innovation, and shape a sustainable energy future.
Free of charge, the event’s programme will feature several highlights, including the Business Fair, which will gather national and international companies and institutions; the Conference, addressing current and future challenges of the energy sector with a focus on integration; and the Business Matchmaking Section, connecting buyers and suppliers of products and services through pre-scheduled meetings.
iBEM26 will also feature a Commercial Arena, a space for companies to showcase their latest products and services, along with three thematic arenas: the ESG Arena (covering environmental, social, and governance topics), the Innovation Arena, and the Investment Arena.
The programme also includes an Academic Congress, dedicated to R&D projects in energy developed by students, professors, and researchers, as well as a Technical Section, where operations and maintenance professionals share best practices and technological challenges.
Other highlights include the Talents of the Future initiative, where companies present their internship programmes and recruitment processes, and the Technical Visits, offering participants a chance to experience the reality of energy companies operating in Salvador and its metropolitan area.
The first edition gathered representatives from 25 countries, and the organizers expect this number to increase thanks to the success of iBEM25. The event is expected to welcome around 4,000 participants over its three days of activities.
iBEM26 is organized by three Bahia-based energy companies: Austral, BrainMarket, and Eolus. Visit the website for more information.
